How to Keep Your Mazda Ready For Winter

December 30th, 2021 by

It’s that time of year again: you’re starting to see snow on the ground and can’t help but wonder if your Mazda is ready for the winter. Driving in the winter months can be treacherous, and it’s important to prepare your car before there is ice on the road. Here are some tips on how to get your Mazda ready for winter.

Change Your Oil

If you’re a driver in a cold climate, one of the most important things to do is change your oil before it gets too cold. This will help prevent any potential engine damage from occurring due to extreme cold weather.

Get New Tires

One of the most important things you can do to keep your Mazda ready for winter is to make sure it has tires that will stand up to the season. Here’s why:

Having good treads will prevent slippage

Having good treads will prevent slippage

  • Your tires need traction to stop and turn, so you’ll want new tires on hand before the ground becomes icy.
  • Having good treads will prevent slippage on ice or snow by providing better contact with the road.
  • You don’t want to drive on worn-out tires, as this increases your risk of losing control of the vehicle which could lead to an accident.

Get Your Battery Checked

One of the most important things to do to prepare for winter is to get your battery checked. You should have your battery tested every 12 months or so, but now would be a good time to make sure it’s in good shape. Keep your Mazda ready for winter by replacing the battery if you still have doubts. If you have any doubts about whether your battery will last through the winter, have it tested before it’s too late. If the test comes back with bad news, there are plenty of car repair shops that can replace or repair your battery for an affordable price. Save for a car by keeping every part well serviced during winter.

Get Prepared for Winter

But it’s important to know that some risks come with driving in the winter months.
While it’s not always possible to avoid driving during these weather conditions, consider these tips to help prepare your car before the winter months arrive:

  • Change Your Oil: The best thing you can do for your car is change your oil before the temperatures drop below freezing, and if you plan on driving in colder climates. This will help prevent any potential engine damage from occurring due to extreme cold weather.
  • Get New Tires: If you’ve been putting off getting a new set of tires, now is the time! A good rule of thumb is to switch out your tires when they reach 6/32nds of tread depth or when they start looking like they need a rotation (showing signs of wear). If you still have time before winter, make sure to take advantage and get a new set of tires!

It’s that time of year again. The time where the leaves start falling, and the air gets crisper. It’s also time to prepare your Mazda for winter. This year, make it easier on yourself and do these four things to make your Mazda ready for the season ahead. Change your oil (don’t wait until it’s too late!), get new tires (especially if you live in an area with snow), get your battery checked (don’t let it die on you), and prepare for winter.  This will ensure that this winter will be less stressful, and more enjoyable than the last!
